The government’s feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme will pay you 12.92p for every unit of electricity you generate, whether you use it or not.

The Feed in Tariff Scheme was introduced in 2010 to encourage UK homeowners to install Solar PV systems onto their properties. Not only do you receive payment for generating your own electricity you also gain from lower fuel bills.

How the Feed In Tariff will work for you

The feed-in tariff is guaranteed by the government for 20 years from the date that the Solar PV installation has been registerd. Payments are made to you quarterly by your electric provider and these payments are tax free, payments are index linked to the Rate of Inflation.

The benefits you will receive by having a Solar PV system installed at your home.

You get paid for all the electricity you create

Your electricity provider will pay you the current FIT rates for every unit of electricity your Solar PV system generates, whether you use it in your home or not. The rate for small home installations (below 4 kWp) is 12.92p for every unit (kWh) you generate.

You get paid for all the electricity you feed back into the grid [Export Tariff]

By feeding your excess electricity back into the national grid you will receive 4.85p per unit from your electricity provider.

You will reduce your energy bills

The electricity you generate from your Solar PV system will power your house during the day therefore decreasing your electricity bill. By using your appliances during the day you can dramatically decrease your electricity bill.
